Top Things to Consider When Choosing Care Management Software For Your Care Business
Posted on | Posted in General, Blog
If you’re looking around for care management software or you’ve been thinking about it for some time, you may be feeling a little overwhelmed with all the options out there as their features, functions and capabilities all vary.
In which case, there is no one better than care management software providers themselves to give us advice. So we spoke to some of them who shared some incredibly valuable insight with us, which we have now collated into this blog post to share with you!

“We know that the care workforce is extremely diverse, people come from many different backgrounds, are of different ages, so the key thing when choosing a care management software is how easy it is to use.
The second tip would be ensuring your vision for your company aligns with the vision of the software company you are choosing. You want to be striving for the same thing: to improve the lives of the service users.
The third tip would be ensuring you have support. You want to choose a software provider who will support you, who will provide you with all the right training, resources and who will be as helpful as possible in getting you set up and ready to go”.

“When choosing a care management software, have the time to invest in understanding it and using it.
Another important thing is to get people confident using the software early, you need to get “buy-in” from the care workers as quickly and as early as you possibly can. It doesn’t necessarily have to be young people but for example one of our features is speech to text so when you’re recording notes, (instead of typing them in) you can dictate them into the app. The younger generation are more used to doing things like that.
The final tip is to get as much “buy-in” from the people who are receiving the services. Older people especially, (who are not technologically proficient) will just see care workers on their phones. So one of the things we’ve done is put logos on the back of the devices we provide so that they could tell their carers were doing something related to their care and not just browsing Facebook”.

“To ensure your residents receive the best possible service, the system should be person-centred and offer point of care recording capability. These benefits will assist you with delivering and recording the highest standards of care.
Before deciding on a system, double check that it includes full feature access and there’s no hidden costs. Some suppliers will charge extra for certain features, and without complete access you may find it challenging to unlock the system’s full potential and evidence thorough compliance.
You’ll also want a supplier that’s committed to helping you succeed from the very beginning of your digital journey by offering ongoing dedicated training and support so you feel confident using the system effectively.
We love to go the extra mile at CareDocs by producing free educational blogs, ebooks and training resources to help care businesses overcome common problems, and to provide information on our growing range of digital solutions.”

“Our top tips when choosing home care management software are looking at options that provide an all-in-one solution that will allow a home care agency to digitise all their work flows – from rostering, care planning, back-end administration including finance and HR management.
It’s also vital that any software saves all users time, makes the jobs of managers and carers easier and ultimately delivers more time to care. Ensuring any supplier you are speaking to are transparent with their pricing is also crucial so that home care providers are clear from the outset what is and what is not included within the costs.
Any manager looking at home care software should also look at the company and how they operate in terms of being responsive and agile in their product development as the needs of care, regulatory bodies, and consequently home care agencies continually change.
Finally, any home care software provider should always put their customers at the heart of their business providing quick support to their customers at all times.”
